The Love That Dare Not Speak Its Name

"A love that dare not speak its name" is an often repeated phrase used to refer to romantic love between individuals of the same sex.  The phrase is from the last line of the poem "Two Loves" by Lord Alfred Douglas, written in September 1892 and published in the Oxford magazine The Chameleon in December 1894.  The phrase is rich in historical context, but it has lost much of its significance in today's era where gay men and lesbians enjoy more freedom, acknowledgement, and acceptance than ever before.  Celebrate.  We have come so far.
