The Jockstrap: A Piece of Classic Masculine Heritage

Note On Today's Post:  I have been doing some clean-up work on the blog, and I came across this old post from January 2020 which was not labeled and listed as a themed collection and was thus buried in the blog's archives.  It may look familiar to serious longtime Clan of Men fans.  I've dusted it off, added a bit to the narrative and included many more photos, and I am re-posting it today.  I only rarely post pics to the Clan of Men blog that don't heavily feature full frontal nudity, so this collection in quite tame by the blog's normal standard.  Nonetheless, I believe the noble and manly jockstrap merits some attention on the blog, and I've added these photos to the blog's list of themed collections under "Other Notable & Popular Collections."  Don't worry, I will be back soon with the usual big-hairy-dick parade of men in their full naked splendor.

The athletic supporter, or jockstrap, is a classic male undergarment traditionally worn for sports and other athletic activity, such as working-out or running. The purpose of a jockstrap is to provide adequate support to male genitals while allowing less bulk and greater freedom-of-movement during exercise than regular underwear.  Another key purpose is to provide sufficient control over the flopping and bouncing of the penis and testicles that naturally occur when a male is engaged in vigorous activity (particularly if he's hung well) so to preserve modesty in circumstances where modesty is warranted.  Styles range from the very basic model -- with an added hard cup for high-contact sports, such as football -- to "fashion" versions in a variety of colors and modifications to the original design.  Some men prefer jockstraps to underwear (such as briefs or boxers) for their more minimal coverage, finding them cooler and more comfortable under their pants.  I often prefer jockstraps over other underwear myself, although I also like classic white briefs (a.k.a., "tighty-whities"). I usually free-ball, unless an undergarment is clearly warranted.

The jockstrap was first created in late 19th century Boston, Massachusetts, for "bike jockeys" who delivered goods on bicycles riding over bumpy cobblestone streets.  Jockstraps soon caught on as a means of protection and support for men engaged in any exercise which might involve impact to the groin area or which caused a provocative movement of the male genitalia.  It has been a staple of male athletics ever since.  In recent years, though, jockstraps have become less customary among men engaged in routine physical fitness activities.  I wear a jockstrap whenever I am at the gym working-out, as I indeed find jockstraps are more comfortable than other undergarments and are necessary to prevent  an over-the-top display of my dick and balls inside from my my light-weight nylon shorts.  I prefer the basic standard-issue white or off-white elasticized jockstrap for it comfort and time-honored masculine appeal.  At the gym where I work-out, I estimate that only about 25% of the guys wear jockstraps, with most favoring either their daily underwear or long compression shorts under their work-out shorts or sweatpants.   Things have away of changing over time, of course, whether one likes it or not, but I personally don't like this trend away from the classic jockstrap.  I think guys in jockstraps are sexy as fuck. A fit man in a jock strap who has a nice ass, a good-sized dick, and good-sized balls is a classic male image projecting virility and athleticism.  And, yes, the pouch of a well-worn jockstrap acquires a strong ripe male scent that is nothing less than heavenly.

Don't get the idea that I have a jockstrap fetish, because I really don't.  However sexy a man may look wearing a jockstrap, I'd much rather see him naked. Similarly, despite my aesthetic and practical appreciation for jockstraps as an undergarment, I'd rather be naked, too.  The Clan of Men is a blog all about classic masculinity, and even though the blog's emphasis is on full glorious male nudity, the jockstrap has a rightful honored place in our cherished male culture. As manly men, the jockstrap is a piece of our masculine heritage.  I believe men who wear them, either for their practicality or simply for their sex-appeal, show respect for traditional masculinity and take due pride in the most prominent aspect of the male anatomy they're specifically designed to support.  So, fellow manly men, let's wear our jockstraps with reverence.
